Ball State Students this year are able to call a 24-hour crisis hotline that connects them to campus resources and assists in a time of need. The line is part of a larger effort by the Counseling Center to offer more options for students beyond just those found in the office.

McCormick was the state superintendent of public instruction from 2017 until 2021, as a Republican. Before running for office, she was a special education teacher, language arts teacher, and school superintendent of Yorktown Community Schools.

Confusion and uncertainty were common refrains from some students who said they didn’t know what to do when a report of a gunshot on campus Sept. 16 sent questions circulating online, especially after videos showing university police officers with visible weapons standing outside one residence hall were shared.
