Niecy Caldwell, a third-year dance major, was honored as Miss Unity. Gizelle Smedley, a fourth-year biology and pre-dentistry major, was the first runner-up; and Akailah Shepherd, a fourth-year elementary education major, was the second runner-up.

President Mearns to be in attendance for Board of Trustees Meeting, Commencement despite ankle injury

Ball State University President Geoffrey Mearns confirmed Wednesday an ankle injury that he sustained over Thanksgiving break.  "I actually dislocated my left ankle and fractured it in three places playing ping pong with my son in the basement here at Bracken House," Mearns said in a YouTube video posted Wednesday. "The good news is, I am pleased to report I am on the mend."

Don McLean to open Brown Family Amphitheater with Sept. 2 performance

After having conversations with several community leaders and finding out that Don McLean had an opening on his tour, the mayor of Muncie wanted to bring the “American Pie” singer and songwriter to the city. When he found out that the originally planned venue for the concert, Canan Commons, was already booked with events, he believed that the concert was not going to happen.
