Despite the fact it is 80 degrees this week, it is officially fall. Mother nature might not believe so, but the season of cozy sweaters, Halloween and pumpkin spice lattes is upon us. And nothing completes a fall look more than a dark lipstick.
Pumpkin spice has branched out from Starbucks to food, scents and now lipsticks. Officially known as terracotta, it is a warm nude perfect for every day wear.
Kylie Cosmetics launches her own version of terracotta shade with her new Kylie Lip Kit in Pumpkin, on sale Oct. 12. Her colors are known to sell out right away, so it’s recommended to get online as soon as they are released. It will be available on kyliecosmetics.com for $29.
Kat Von D released their own version of the pumpkin spice shade, with a limited edition lipstick in Lolita II. It’s available for $20 at Sephora in a matte liquid lipstick and in a satin finish.
For a cheaper alternative, the NYX Liquid Suede in the color Soft Spoken, offers a similar spice color for only $7.
Another unique color on trend for the season is a bold plum.
Sticking with the matte trend, the new Buxom Big & Sexy Gel Lipstick in Vampy Plum is long wearing, dark lipstick perfect for fall nights. It can be found at Sephora for $22.
If you’re looking to splurge, the Doir Rouge Dior Lipstick in Poison Matte goes perfect with the dark lips trend. This burgundy-plum shade is $35 and was used by makeup artist Peter Philips at the fall 2016 Dior show.
In for an even bolder color, the Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Crème Lipstick in Blacquer is shiny and very pigmented. This $ 30, limited edition shade was inspired by their runway collection.
Brick red screams fall and the limited edition Kat Von D liquid lipstick the shade Project Chimps is completely matte and long wearing. And if you didn’t need another reason to purchase it, four dollars from each of the $20 lipsticks goes to Project Chimps, an organization that works to save chimpanzees.
One cannot go wrong with a classic, pink/red shade lipstick. Love Is On Super Lustrous Lipstick by Revlon is affordable for any college budget at only $7.99.
Kat Von D is killing it with the fall lipsticks, releasing a new Studded Kiss Lipstick in the shade Mercy. The long wearing formula is a brown berry shade that can be found at Sephora for $21.
Another affordable liquid lipstick is the Milani Amore Matte Metallic Lip Creme in Pure Matteness. Only $8.99, it can be easy found at CVS and Walgreens.
