Bowling Green quarterback Matt Johnson will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season, after suffering a hip injury in the team’s season-opening loss against Western Kentucky, according to John Wagner of the Toledo Blade.
Johnson will be replaced by redshirt freshman James Knapke.
“Being defeated is often a temporary condition,” Johnson said on twitter. “Giving up is what makes it permanent.”
Ball State and Bowling Green aren’t in the same division of the Mid-American Conference, but the two teams will meet at Bowling Green in the regular season final on Nov. 28.
The Falcons were considered the preseason favorites to win the MAC.
