The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for the Delaware County area April 2 from 9:49 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning remains in place until 10:30 p.m. at this time.
Ball State alerted the campus community to the tornado warning via campus alerts Wednesday evening.
Sirens were heard sounding off in the Muncie area. According to the National Weather Service, "At 10:02 PM EDT, a confirmed tornado was located 7 miles south of Matthews, or 8 miles northwest of Muncie, moving northeast at 70 mph."

Update; 11: 58 p.m. April 2
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Muncie residents until April 3 at 4:00 a.m and a flood watch is in effect from April 2 at 8:00 p.m. until April 6 at 8:00 a.m.
More than 8, 000 Delaware County residents are also without power, according to the Indiana Michigan Power outage map.
