Cowan head boys’ basketball coach Aaron Groves has retired from coaching after five seasons with the Blackhawks.
Groves made the announcement Wednesday after handing his resignation to Cowan Monday evening. Groves has been a coach for 34 years and an educator for 29. He will continue teaching Senior Government, Senior Economics, AP U.S. History, Junior U.S. History and 7th Grade Geography according to the Cowan Junior-Senior High School website.
Groves had been the head coach at Cowan since 2020 following the passing of former coach Joe Ingles. That Blackhawks team won a Sectional title in 2021. He is in year 21 at Cowan as a teacher.
Groves is a Ball State graduate and will remain involved at Cowan as a teacher and Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle leader.
