MUNCIE, Ind. —The Interior Design Alliance at Ball State held its annual Disney-themed event in the Applied Technology building Tuesday night.
The event aims to give interior design students a chance to hear from an employee of the company and build furniture with inspiration from Disney characters.
Interior Design Alliance president Olivia Kelley says the speaker for this event was the inspiration behind this specific theme.
“It started with our president last year,” Kelley said. “She was a big fan of Disney. She wanted to work for Disney. She had several interviews coming up and thought that the IDA would be interested.”
The goal of this event is to have fun with the event and a chance to explore other avenues in the field of interior design.
“I think in all aspects, like buildings, parks, anything–there is an aspect in them,” Kelley said. “It’s just getting people to connect those dots.”
The event is open to anybody, not just interior design students. Kelley notes this is because Disney is an interesting topic in general.
“Not just interior design students are interested in Disney because it is a really cool topic to learn about,” Kelley said, “especially having someone who is an Imagineer [Disney employee]. It’s really cool what they show us and what they can tell us about it.”
