MUNCIE, Ind — The atmosphere in Worthen Arena was filled with emotion on Saturday as six senior members of the Ball State women’s basketball team played their final guaranteed game on their home court.
For these players, it wasn’t just about the game, the victories or the accolades they had earned throughout the season—it was about the bond they had built over the years, a bond that will last long after the final whistle
Head coach Brady Sallee reflected on the impact of this senior class.
“When you see them thoroughly enjoy each other and their smiles are real, for me, that’s more than the net we cut down, more than the trophy we got handed, that’s everything,” said Sallee.
The journey these women embarked on together began with the shared goal of becoming teammates, but over time, they evolved into something much deeper—a sisterhood. As their final game approached, the emotions were high and palpable.
Senior guard Ally Becki opened up about what Senior Day meant to her.
“I was just trying to soak it all in, and being able to do it with your best friends, it means a lot,” Becki said.
For these players, the game was only one part of their senior experience. It was the laughter after tough losses, the quiet moments of reflection and the shared joy of victories that created memories to last a lifetime.
Senior forward, Alex Richard, reflected on his experience.
“This group has been my family. We’ve been through so much together, and it’s made us all stronger,” said Richard.
As the final season for this senior class draws to a close, it’s clear their connection extends far beyond basketball. From the early morning practices to the late-night talks, their bond is something that will endure long after their time on the court. For these women, the game of basketball was just the beginning of lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.
Looking ahead, the Cardinals are in prime position for the Women’s National Tournament, holding the 12 seed. The Cardinals will take on Ole Miss, Friday, March 21st at Foster Pavilion in Waco, Texas.
