Muncie Central girls’ basketball hit the road to face off with Greenfield-Central in a contest the Bearcats would lose 61-18. No stats could be found.
Muncie Burris girls’ basketball took on Centerville in a home matchup the Owls would lose 62-30. No stats could be found.
Cowan girls’ basketball traveled to clash with conference foe Shenandoah. The Blackhawks would drop the matchup 56-14. The black and yellow were led by senior Elizabeth Sizemore and sophomore Savannah Hall with six points each.
Yorktown boys’ basketball went on the road to face Westfield. The Tigers fell in the matchup 62-33 and were led by sophomore Mason Trammell and junior Jabin Barnes who each notched eight points.
Wednesday (Jan. 22)
Yorktown girls’ basketball hit their home court to take on Frankton. The Tigers won the contest 60-40 being led by sophomore Alexis Fields with 18 points.
Wapahani girls’ basketball hosted conference foe Monroe Central taking down the Golden Bears 48-20.
Thursday (Jan. 23)
Muncie Central girls’ basketball hosted Lapel, but fell in the matchup 60-29. No stats could be found.
Daleville girls’ basketball hosted MEC rival Eastern Hancock but would fall 72-47. No stats found.
Cowan girls’ basketball went on the road to take on Monroe Central in a conference clash. The Blackhawks would fall in the contest 58-17. The black and yellow were led by senior Regan Gill with six points.
Wes-Del girls’ basketball traveled to Elwood to take on the Panthers. The Warriors fell in the matchup 58-17 and were led by freshmen Tori Ward and Kaydence Whitehead with seven points.
Delta girls’ basketball faced off with Jay County in a road contest. The Eagles downed the Patriots 64-33 being led by junior Jillian Barr who registered 29 points in the win.
Friday (Jan. 24)
Muncie Central boys’ basketball took on Kokomo in a home conference matchup. The Bearcats would fall in the contest 65-51. Freshman Carlos Echols and junior Shemar Taylor led the way for the purple and white with 12 points apiece.
Muncie Burris boys’ basketball hit the hardwood against county rival Cowan. The Owls fell in the matchup 64-51. Leading the blue and yellow was junior Malachi Smith with 16 points. No stats could be found for Cowan.
Yorktown boys’ basketball hosted conference foe New Castle and fell 51-42. Junior Jabin Barnes led the Tigers with ten points.
Yorktown girls’ basketball took on New Castle and took the victory over the Trojans 46-25. No stats could be found.
Delta boys’ basketball clashed with conference rival Pendleton Heights and took down the Arabians 44-40. No stats could be found.
Wapahani boys’ basketball went on the road taking on conference rival Randolph Southern. The Raiders defeated the Rebels 75-36. No stats could be found.
Wes-Del boys’ basketball took on conference foe Shenandoah. However, the Warriors would fall in the contest 71-49. No stats could be found.
Saturday (Jan. 25)
Muncie Central boys’ basketball clashed with Westfield, but dropped their second straight game 45-33. No stats could be found.
Delta girls’ basketball hit the hardwood at home against conference rival Shelbyville. The Eagles fell just short in the matchup, falling 54-55. No stats could be found.
Wes-Del, Wapahani, Daleville and Cowan all competed in the boys’ wrestling MEC tournament. The Warriors managed to take home second place overall as a team leading the way for the Delaware County schools.
113-pounds: Wes-Del’s Zac Reno and Daleville’s James Gibson placed first and second place respectively.
120-pounds: Payton Goode of Wapahani took third place
126-pounds: Cowan’s Tyler Garza placed fourth, Alex Harris from Wapahani placed fifth and Lathan Wright took sixth place for the Broncos.
132-pounds: Kyler Coffey took home first place for the Blackhawks, Leo Davis of Wes-Del came in second place. For the Broncos, Braxton Collins placed fourth and Carter Ring from Wapahani took fifth place.
138-pounds: Cowan’s Ashton Goney placed first, Darren Ward of Daleville took home third place and Jon Cook of Wes-Del placed sixth.
144-pounds: Jacob Unger won the class for Cowan, Wapahani’s Brogan Long placed fourth, Skyler Graham from Daleville placed fifth and Kaidyn Duke of Wes-Del placed sixth.
150-pounds: Ramen Dubois from Wes-Del took home first place while CJ Bynum of Cowan placed third.
157-pounds: Jackson Bradley for the Blackhawks placed first, Ayden Ramirez of Daleville took second place and Noah Losey took home sixth place for the Warriors.
165-pounds: Malachi Dubois placed second for Wes-Del, Noah Modglin took home third overall for Cowan and Jaxen Timmons for the Broncos placed fourth.
175-pounds: Eli Wright placed third for the Warriors, Xander Sparks took home fourth place for Cowan and Grant Stowe of Daleville placed sixth.
190-pounds: Wes-Del’s Dallas Godby placed first while Wapahani’s Tommy Ullman placed fifth.
215-pounds: For the Warriors, Luke Powers took home first place.
285-pounds: Xavier Ostman of the Blackhawks placed second, Wes-Del’s Owen Lamb placed third overall and Wapahani’s Malachi Johnson took home fifth place.
Wapahani boys’ basketball hit the road clashing with New Castle. The Raiders suffered their first loss of the season as they fell 64-55. No stats could be found.
Muncie Burris boys’ basketball traveled to South Adams to face the Starfires. The Owls would drop the matchup 49-27. The blue and yellow were led by freshman Sam Isom with nine points.
Cowan girls’ basketball hosted Knightstown in a matchup the Blackhawks would lose 31-54. No stats could be found.
