MUNCIE, Ind. — Lily’s Labyrinth is more than just a vintage store with clothes that other people wore. It’s a small local store close to Ball State University, where the clothes tell the story of their journey to the store. Store owner Lily Brandon had always had a niche for collecting and selling clothes. She was inspired from a very young age with the help of her mother and aunt. Once, in high school, she decided to open an online shop to sell her clothes.
Lily explained that she was so inspired while shopping for her friend that she hoped to open her shop one day. Her friend looked at her and said that she could do it if she really wanted to. Lily took this as inspiration and decided to open a shop dedicated to vintage clothes with a story to tell.
“One day, I just decided to start my shop because my friend and I were out shopping, and I was like, man, I wish I had my own little store, and she was like, you can,” said Brandon.
Even with her friend's encouragement, Lily never lost the support she had from her mother, Gwen Townsted, about opening her own store.
“I love working with her, I love being here with her and I am so proud,” said Townsted.
Lily’s store stood as a reminder that even when times were tough opening her store, she still had the love and support of her best friend and her family. The clothes that she sells also remind us that not only do the people who wear the clothes have a story, but so do the clothes. For more information on Lily’s Labyrinth, visit her website here.
