Muncie, IND. — The Cardinal Cosplay group on campus hosted a Halloween Bash on Tuesday. There were snacks, activities, and karaoke; many attendees wore costumes. When it comes to expressing oneself in costume, cardinal cosplay is top-tier.
“This is the best turnout we’ve had by a long shot,” Allison Killion said.
This event contained people from the club and those simply coming for the fun! There were very exotic and simple costumes, but each was unique. Costume parties like this are great ways to express themselves and their interests.
Halloween is a popular time to do such things. There was a lot of complementing of others' costumes, even if the students didn’t know each other. Some even asked for pictures of some of the people’s fantastic costumes! There were a variety of costumes not only in character but also in whether they were homemade, bought, or quickly put together. When it came to Karaoke, the line went halfway through the room.
“We really like to provide a safe space for people to do this where they get to talk to people that are like them and like to express themselves in this way,” Katie Roe expressed.
This event is one of many BSU Halloween campus events this week. This one, however, brought variety into unity. People who didn’t know anyone else there didn’t hide in the corner. They went and mingled with the others.
At the end of the night was the costume contest. Many contestants lined up, and each got a chance to share their costumes. They got to say what or who they were and express their character in words or actions.
There were many categories with many winners. The top in each category got together for a picture at the end of the contest. Overall, this event was very successful, and students could express themselves fun and uniquely. For more information about Cardinal Cosplay and future events, visit their Instagram page here.
