Albany, IND. — In July, Victoria Gill transferred her years of pet grooming experience to her own business, the BowWow Pet Parlor.
Before opening up her business, Victoria worked at a boarding, day-care, and grooming facility that did everything that allowed multiple dogs all in one room. With her experience in the facility, Victoria wanted to create a different environment for her client's pets by giving them one-on-one attention instead of multiple appointments at once.
“As far as I know, a lot of groomers are in boarding and day-care facilities, or vet clinics,” Gill said. “Even though you may be able to be a little bit out of the way of everything else, I like to prioritize just me and that dog I’m working on. Like all I do is grooming care.” Gill expressed.
Victoria’s passion and pride in her work are shown through her dedication to ensuring dog safety by requiring vaccines for appointments with the expectation of certain conditions that do not allow for vaccines. At the same time, another feature that makes BowWow Pet Parlor stand out is being cage-free.
“Pet Smart, Pet-Supplies Plus holds an open environment and you know dogs are always coming in even if it’s not for grooming. Like they are just coming in to shop or something and that’s a lot for dogs to be looking at while you are trying to groom. So here it’s just me and the dog.” Victoria said.
Since opening up BowWow Pet Parlor, Victoria feels more connected to her clients than ever before.
“I’ve had more personal relationships with my clients because when I worked at other places it was more like you’re just another client and it’s more like getting numbers in, just another paycheck. Here, it’s like I take pride in my work and it’s just building that relationship with the client and potentially making friends out of it.” Victoria expressed.
The BowWow Pet Parlor strives to create a stress-free environment that prioritizes dogs' comfort and well-being.
