MUNCIE, IND. — Young students from all different types of backgrounds gather in the West Quad at Ball State University to collectively host an event called Pumpkins and Pastries held by the Graduate Student Wellness Initiative.
Along with making pumpkins, the event had a selective feast of Thanksgiving items and pumpkin-themed pastries. Pecan pie, pumpkin rolls, Halloween pretzels and more were available.
With the intent of spreading American culture through Ball State, President Tina Ahmadi made sure there were enough pumpkins to paint, and enough pastries to feed.
“It gives you an opportunity to connect with other students, in particular, these events I’m facilitating are aimed at students with dependence, so it is nice to see students show up who have kids and connect with them.”
As the event came to a close, all the students collectively voted on the best-painted pumpkin in the group. Lucky star Jackson Beeman was voted as the best-painted pumpkin, and as a result, was awarded a pumpkin-themed candle.
Young students at Ball State are certain that with the creation of the Graduate Student Wellness Initiative, it will bring more of a cultural balance to Ball State.
