MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State alum, Mark Lazzer, has an impressive statistic when it comes to Ball State Football. The former Cardinal has been in attendance for 251 consecutive home games.
“My first home game was Sept 11, 1976, my freshman year at Ball State,” said Lazzer. “I’ve been to every home game for almost 50 years now.”
After racking up a slew of games attended, Mark had not realized the streak he had been maintaining until about the late 1990s. An impressive feat for not being planned.
“I was getting ready to come down for a weekend of tailgating,” said Lazzer. “You know, I’ve been to every home game.”
Mark then took the opportunity to check out his own record books. Going back through each game he attended and recording the outcome of what he saw from the stands. Mark’s love for college football and the connection he has built are what drive him to see the Cardinals each fall.
“Went to school here for four years,” said Lazzer. “Always had a for college football that my brother instilled in me.”
Whatever life may throw at Mark, his resilience has allowed him to witness 251 out of Ball State’s 464 total home games. Mark even has not let medical issues stop him from cheering at Scheumann as he scheduled a surgery in order to not miss a game. Mark’s fandom is in not fear of wavering as he has his sights set on cheering on his beloved Cardinals each game.
“Love coming down for Ball State games,” said Lazzer. “Still will till I die, and hopefully I still got a few seasons left in me.”
