MUNCIE, Ind. — A new college basketball season is upon us, and with that comes a plethora of new players who have transferred to Ball State and are excited to play for the Cardinals. These transfers include redshirt freshman Joey Hart and junior guard Jermahri Hill, who took the offseason to sharpen his skills.
“I’ve really been working on everything really, but I’ve mostly been focused on my jump shot, staying consistent on my jump shot and creating for others,” said Hill when asked what he improved on in the offseason.
Hill played on two other teams before transferring to Ball State. He started his career at Pearl River Community College, then moved to South Plains Junior College before finally landing in Muncie this summer. When asked how he viewed his journey, Hill believes that it has made him better.
“It has been good. I love the whole process, you know, like starting low in Junior College and building my way up, it definitely made me tougher and stronger to get here where I’m at today,” said Hill.
Joey Hart is transferring from one of the most storied programs in college basketball, the Kentucky Wildcats, where he was coached under John Calipari during his last year at Kentucky. When asked what he learned in Kentucky Hart said that he learned what it means to be a college athlete.
“I learned how hard college basketball can be because it’s a lot like a full-time job, and it can be really hard to just manage time,” said Hart.
The Ball State Cardinals tip off their season on November 4th against the Georgia State Panthers, where they look to improve from their 15-16 record last season.
