Tuesday morning, Vice President Kamala Harris is said to have picked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate ahead of the 2024 elections according to the Associated Press (AP).
Harris was vetting multiple candidates over the past weeks, with other finalists including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, according to AP.
According to the official state website of the Minnesota Governor's Office, Walz was first elected Governor in 2018 and won re-election in 2022. Walz spent time in the Army National Guard and was a high school teacher.
According to the office website, his political accomplishments include creating funding education, protecting gender-affirming health care and abortion, tax cuts for the middle class, supporting and protecting unions and other accomplishments.
Harris is expected to introduce Walz at a rally Tuesday evening in Philadelphia, according to AP.
