Ball State Baseball walked away from its weekend series against Mid-American Conference (MAC) opponent Akron with a sweep.
On Saturday, the Cardinals competed in a doubleheader, taking the first game 5-1. Junior Merritt Beeker pitched 5.1 innings and picked up eight strikeouts. Junior Hunter Dobbins and senior Nick Gregory lead Ball State in hitting. Dobbins had two hits in three at-bats, allotting one run and two RBIs.
In the second game, Ball State won 17-7. The Cardinals were dominant offensively, scoring seven runs in the third inning. Senior Michael Hallquist led the team in hitting, with three hits in five at-bats, scoring two runs and picking up an RBI.
In their last match, Gregory showed up offensively, with an early two-run homer followed by a Dobbins Grand Slam. Senior Sam Klein pitched 4.1 innings and picked up four strikeouts. The Cardinals would go on to win 14-9.
Ball State returns to play Purdue, Tuesday April 16 at 6 p.m. on the road.
