Today, at 11:06 p.m. EDT, spring will officially begin! Let’s dive into what exactly the spring equinox is!
There are two equinoxes a year, the vernal (spring) and autumnal (fall). This occurs when the sun’s rays pass directly over the equator and there is “equal day and night.” Once this happen, the sun’s rays will gradually cross north of the equator, bringing more daylight to the northern hemisphere.
Within the next few days, day length will rapidly get longer. Check out the sunrise/sunset times below for Muncie:
By this time next week, our sunsets will be past 8 p.m.! With the longer daylight, the earth is able to warm up quickly which is why temperatures get warmer and plants are able to start blooming.
Spring is a beautiful season and is full of color. Here’s to the warming temperatures and blooming flowers!
