MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State Baseball has lost the first two games of a three-game series against the Falcons, and the Cardinals are looking to avoid being swept. The Cardinals lost 8-15 to the Falcons and didn't avoid the sweep.
Ball State comes off losing the series in a sweep, but the run differential is also 44 runs.
Head coach Rich Maloney said, “We ran into a hot team, and we are still trying to find ourselves.”
Indeed, they found themselves, especially in the pitching staff, as in the 3rd game, they gave up seven home runs, including three back-to-back in the 7th inning.
Maloney said the only way to get out of the funk is to “Keep fighting and grind it out.” Ball State is now 1-5 in the Mid-American Conference. After winning the conference last year, there are high expectations to turn the season around here in Muncie.
The Cardinals are on the road this week and return home to play at Ball Diamond on March 26th against Southern Indiana.
