Wapahani junior boys’ basketball player Nate Luce was voted the Daily News Athlete of the Week from the week of 2/7-2/14.
“The community is a big part in how we play and why we play,” Luce said via text. “They show support everywhere we go, and in everything we do.”
During that week, Luce led the Raiders with 17 points in their 69-53 win over Monroe Central. He credits his success to the way the team has practiced this season.
“We put a lot of work in over the off-season,” he said. “Everyone worked on their own as well as with each other, lifting, shooting, and even playing open gym.”
The Ball State Daily News will use this program to honor athletes who had an impressive week or a breakout performance. A candidate from each school will be chosen and the community can vote for the winner.
Candidates will be announced every Wednesday with the voting closing on the following Saturday at 5 p.m. If you believe a certain student-athlete should be your school’s candidate, email the Daily News high school sports reporter Zach Carter at zachary.carter@bsu.edu.
