PARKER CITY, Ind. -- Monroe Central basketball is currently on a losing stretch but has high hopes to finish the regular season strong as they head into sectionals.
The Bears are currently 8-14, losing eight of their last nine games, but the players and coaches are still excited to finish this season strong.
“The kids are really starting to come together, and we got a good draw in the sectional," head coach Jim Melton said.
Monroe Central will play in Sectional 40 where they have a bye and will play the winner of Winchester v. Alexandria.
Melton highlights the bond the Bears have together.
“I think the guys have learned how to love one another, to fight for each other, and play together," Melton said.
Melton explains how the Bears can finish the season strong.
“Well it’s going to take determination, maximum effort and togetherness. We have to play with a lot of discipline to execute our game plan.”
Monroe Central hasn't had the season they expected, but they seem poised to end the year on a high note.
