MUNCIE, Ind.— Ball State Women’s Tennis claimed their first win of the year against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.
The Cardinals took the match 5-2, and head coach Sachin Kirtane got his first win with the squad. He speaks on the growth from the group.
“I knew we were going to go through some growing pains, but honestly I can see the progress,” said Kirtane.
With the Cardinals losing eight players from last year's squad, they have found new people to take the reign of leadership as the season progresses.
"[The alumni] taught me how to be a good player on the court, but they also taught me a lot of life lessons on how to be a leader, how to be a good friend, how to be a good teammate," Ella Hazelbaker, one of two juniors of the group, said.
The Cardinals will look to carry the momentum into the future.
According to Coach, "you have to be patient, it’s a marathon not a sprint.”
