MUNCIE, Ind.-- An arrest has been made in connection to the mass shooting that left one dead and injured 18.
Police arrested 36-year-old John L. Vance Tuesday afternoon; Mayor Dan Ridenour announced at a prayer vigil.
“I was beyond happy when the chief called me and said, ‘5 seconds ago we got him,’” Ridenour said after Tuesday’s vigil.
Vance has preliminarily been charged with several felonies and the arrest is being forwarded to the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
According to a press release, the Muncie Police Department received assistance from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshal Service.
Jail records show that Vance was booked Tuesday evening and listed a total bond amount of $55,000.
This is still an ongoing investigation and there will be a press conference at City Hall Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m.
“This doesn’t solve the pain, but we hope this can move our community towards some closer,” Ridenour said.
