The 2023 Kia of Muncie and Toyota of Muncie held their tent sale at the parking lot of Scheumann Stadium yesterday. The event kept its annual tradition of having an athlete from the Indianapolis Colts visit and sign autographs.
Last season, then-starting quarterback Matt Ryan stopped by. But when it was announced that this year's guest was Colts great and receivers coach Reggie Wayne, many first-time attendees like Phil Vinson made the stop.
“I was pretty excited [when he was announced],” Vinson said. He's been one of my favorite players and I wear his jersey to some of the games that I go to.”
Since Lucas Oil Stadium became the pro team’s home, Vinson has been a Colts season ticket holder.
“I think [them visiting] means that [the players] care about the community and it gets people fired up for the season,” Vinson said.
Besides Wayne, Muncie’s local radio station 104.1WLBC played music and interviewed the sales staff and Wayne himself.
