This season, there have been multiple high school players in Delaware County that have been, in my opinion, at the top of my list. 

Delta - junior D’Amare Hood

 Coming into sectionals, the Eagles are 14-9 and 3-4 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. One of their key factors is junior D’amare Hood. He has improved on his averages from last year and has been a go-to guy for the Eagles. 

He leads the team in points per game(13.9) and rebounds per game(4.5) Hood has had five games over twenty points and two over thirty. He scored his season-high 39 points in the Eagle’s win against Rushville. In that game, he also tied Delta’s record for the number of three-pointers made(9). 

Yorktown - senior AJ Dunn 

The Tigers head into sectionals at 14-8 and sit in fourth place in the Hoosier Heritage Conference with a 4-3 record. Senior AJ Dunn has been a big part of the Tigers' success in previous years and that did not change this season.

 He leads Yorktown in points per game (18.6) and rebounds per game (4.7). He has had many big moments this season, but one that sticks out is when he passed 1,000 career points in the Tiger’s victory over Jay County.

Muncie Central - senior Josiah Ullom

The Bearcats have taken some people by surprise, myself included. They finished the regular season 15-7. This season, senior Josiah Ullom has been an all-around player for Muncie Central. In his first and only season with the team, he leads them in assists (3.4) and steals (2.2) per game. He is also second on the team with 10.8 points per game and has posted his season high (18 points) twice. 

Cowan - junior Cole Duncan

When I was doing this list and the list of the most improved players, Cole Duncan could have been on both of them. The 6 '9 junior has been a huge piece of the Blackhawks' game plan. He leads the team with 9.5 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game.

When it comes to offense, Duncan has no issue getting to the basket. He is second on the team with 12.6 points per game. His season high this year was 21 points and he has had two triple-doubles for the Blackhawks. But to me, his biggest game came when Cowan defeated Daleville on Jan. 11. In that game, Duncan posted a triple-double with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 blocks. 

Wapahani - junior Isaac Andrews

The Raiders have had arguably the best season out of all Delaware County teams. They are 20-1 going into sectionals and were the champions of the Delaware County tournament. One standout player this season was junior Isaac Andrews. He has been one of the biggest weapons on the team for the last few seasons. 

He leads the team with 18.3 points per game. When Wapahani defeated Cowan, Andrews hit seven three-pointers. A few of those were from the volleyball line. This season, he has eight games where he scored over twenty points. He scored his season-high 27 points in three different games. 

Wes-Del - sophomore Josiah Love

Love was another player that could have made the most improved list. This season, he is averaging 17.9 points per game. He leads the Warriors in points per game, field goal percentage(45 percent), and three-point percentage(48 percent). 

This season, the sophomore has had eight games over twenty points. He has also scored his season-high (26 points) in three different games.  

Daleville - junior Meryck Adams 

Adams has had a lot of success this season. On the offensive side, he leads the Broncos with 15.6 points per game and is second on rebounds per game with 5.5. 

On the defensive side, he leads the team on blocks per game with 1.2 and also leads them on steals per game with 1.5. This season, he has scored over twenty points in five games. He scored his season-high of 34 points in the Broncos' loss to Anderson.

Muncie Burris - senior Colin McBride

In his final year, McBride has averaged 17.5 points per game, which is first on the team. He also leads the team in steals per game(1.5) and three-point percentage(38 percent). 

McBride has had many great games, but to me, his best was when he went off in the Owl’s win over Anderson Prep Academy. He dropped 36 points on 13 for 20(65 percent) shooting.
