MUNCIE, INDIANA — A former Cardinal quarterback, Drew Plitt, has continued his career in football after graduating from Ball State. He was drafted to an XFL team, the Arlington Renegades, in late September of 2022.
“When Rick Mueller called me, who’s the GM here with the Renegades, and told me they were going to pick me up as one of their quarterbacks, I was super excited. Just happy to be playing again,” Plitt said.
The 25-year-old quarterback joined the XFL after a short stint with the Cincinnati Bengals. He went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft but was picked up as a free agent. In one preseason game, he completed all six pass attempts for 76 yards and one touchdown to register a perfect passer rating of 158.3.
“That was a tremendous experience, playing for my hometown team too was full circle and a dream come true,” Plitt said.
Plitt started the Renegade’s first game this past Sunday where they defeated the Vegas Vipers 22-20. The starting quarterback threw for 172 yards on 76% passing.
“It was great all around, just an awesome atmosphere, but we would have liked to put up some more points on the offensive side of things,” Plitt said.
Plitt is always looking to improve his craft and that means he still has big goals for the team and himself for the rest of the season.
“My goal is to win as many games as possible and win a championship. Those are my personal goals and I know that is my team’s goal too,” Plitt said.
The quarterback is ultimately looking to get back on an NFL roster in the future. In the meantime, you can see Plitt and the Renegades play again next Sunday against the Houston Roughnecks.
