MUNCIE, Ind.---A little over a year ago a local Muncie organization formed to make an impact on the community.
Pastor Matt Derby from Northside Church of God started “Love Muncie,” an organization that seeks to use people's passions and leverage them towards making a difference within the local community.
Pastor Derby is seeking to create “a unity bridge,” with hopes of opening the door for people of all different types of backgrounds to get involved.
“We could come together and pull off an amazing thing. We could change the community, make a bigger impact. And everyone would be blessed because of that,” Derby said. “It’s a place for people of different backgrounds to come together and work for the common good of our community.”
Love Muncie has put on two concerts in Muncie for local artists to perform. They have also handed out backpacks, shoes and other clothing items.
“Love Muncie hopes to see more public utility this next year,” Derby said.
Love Muncie is hoping to continue maintaining, “An environment where people can learn about their gifts and how to use them to impact Muncie for good,” Derby said.
The overall goal is to benefit everyone within the organization and the surrounding community.
