CANPACK Group, a company specializing in aluminum can and glass bottle manufacturing, announced May 25 it will be opening a new factory in Muncie, Indiana.
This will be the Poland-based company’s second plant in the United States — its first in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, which is expected to open by the end of this year.
“The CANPACK facility is fantastic for Muncie, Delaware County and East Central Indiana,” Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour said in a statement May 26. “The new jobs and investment in our area will be positively felt for decades to come.”
The company announced in a press release the new factory is expected to be fully operational by December 2022 and will provide at least 345 new jobs by the end of 2023.
“Indiana’s economy is increasingly global, and we are excited to welcome yet another international company to the Hoosier state,” Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb said in a press release May 25.

CANPACK also took notice of Indiana’s leadership and improvements to the workforce sector.
“Under Gov. Eric Holcomb’s leadership, Indiana has been making record investments in workforce and education, maintaining its fiscal discipline and developing strong and resilient communities,” Peter Giorgi, president and CEO of CANPACK parent company Giorgi Global Holdings Inc., said in a May 25 press release.
A CANPACK spokesperson said via email the company looks forward to being a productive and supportive member of the Muncie and Delaware County communities.
Community members also have high hopes for what economic growth CANPACK will bring.
“I’m excited to welcome CANPACK and the addition of the excellent-paying jobs that they are bringing to our community,” said James King, president of the Delaware County Board of Commissioners, in a May 25 press release. “The current county commissioners are committed to making sure that our county’s tax base continues to grow and future generations have a myriad of diversified employment options.”
The new factory is set to be built in the southwest edge of town along West Fuson Road, near State Road 67, to provide future employees with easy work commutes.
“We are all looking forward to the brighter days ahead due to this wonderful addition to our business community,” Ridenour said in his statement.
