After a two week long election season, with three debates and two days of voting, Ball State's 2020 Student Government Association (SGA) election concluded in a runoff election for the second year in a row.
With no slate winning 51 percent or more of the student vote, a runoff election will take place between the top two slates with the most votes from the first round of voting — Bold (44.16%) and Alliance (28.20%).
Aureum slate will not go through to the second round of voting, trailing behind Alliance by less than 60 votes.
This year's election had a voter turnout of 8.7 percent — with 477 less votes cast than last year's first round of voting.
Here's a schedule of the Ball State's 2020 SGA runoff election:
According to SGA elections board press secretary Megan Markarian, these are the percentages and number of votes each slate received:
Bold: 44.16%, or 866 votes
Alliance: 28.20%, or 553 votes
Aureum: 25.29%, or 496 votes
No confidence: 2.35%, or 46 votes
Total votes: 1,961

Feb. 18 — Runoff campaigns commence
Slates can start campaigning as soon as the runoff election is announced at 5:20 p.m. -
Feb. 20 — All-Slate Debate
The second All-Slate Debate and fourth debate of this SGA election will be held 7 p.m. at the Art and Journalism Building room 175. -
Feb. 24-25 — Voting for runoff election
Voting for the runoff election will be available online starting 8 a.m. Monday and ending 5 p.m. Tuesday. -
Feb. 25 — Winner announced
The winning slate of Ball State's 2020 SGA runoff election will be announced 5:20 p.m. Tuesday after voting concludes and results are tallied.
