MUNCIE, Ind. (NewsLink) - Ball State Women’s Volleyball split this past weekend, winning Friday against Ohio via a sweep, and being swept by Kent State on Saturday. Each experience was valuable to the young team, as it was one that provided many learning experiences.
The transition from last season to this season for Ball State Women’s Volleyball is one that was not ideal in most teams eyes, but couldn’t have gone better in the eyes of Head Coach Kelli Phillips.
Saying there was turnover for the team is an understatement. The Cardinals graduated six seniors, that all were significant pieces to the puzzle that was Ball State Volleyball. Not only did the Cardinals’ seniors leave, but they also added several new players. Ten incoming freshmen are on the Ball State roster, several of which receive a fair amount of playing time.
Phillips said that the freshmen are showing great maturity, but also mentioned that they don’t look at the freshmen as underclassmen, but rather as equals.
Following playing six of the last eight conference games on the road, Ball State will be at home Friday and Saturday. Friday’s match will be against Miami, and Saturday’s against Bowling Green. Both matches will be at 7:00 P.M. at Worthen Arena.
