Muncie Police were called to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital at 9:51 p.m. Friday after a sexual assault was reported.
Muncie Police Chief Joe Winkle and Delaware County Emergency Communications confirmed MPD were at the Studebaker West residence hall Friday night as part of an ongoing investigation relating to the report. However, it's still unclear how exactly the residence hall is connected to the sexual assault.
Muncie Police crime scene technicians were observed entering the residence hall Friday night and leaving with evidence bags just after 2 a.m. Saturday. Officers and detectives from the Ball State University Police Department were also at the scene.
When asked for information about the investigation at Studebaker West, university spokesperson Kathy Wolf said in an email to The Daily News that she didn't have any information.
Winkle said police are still in the middle of their investigation. The female victim is a "local," he added, but no further details are available.
