“Billy the Girl,” a play about a family’s relationship and differences, will premiere at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in The Cave Theatre.
The play, based on a book by Katie Hims, is centered around the relationship between a mother and her two daughters, who have dealt with a lifetime of mistrust. As the play progresses, it is revealed that one of the daughters is estranged and the other is not who she seems to be.
“It’s kind of an odd compilation of topics,” said Abigail Oldham, senior directing major and director of the show. “It’s really fun and kind of heart breaking, interesting and thought provoking.”
Both Oldham and Giselle Drake, actor and senior musical theatre majors, are looking forward to sharing the story with the community and hearing how it is interpreted by others.
“I’m really excited to see what my friends and family think of the show because it’s such a different show than I’ve ever read or performed in,” Drake said. “I’m just really interested to see how it goes and which characters they relate to or what situations they relate to and how it affects them.”
Show dates:
- 7:30 p.m. shows can be seen Oct. 17-21
- 2:30 p.m. shows are available on Oct. 21 and 22
