Ball State baseball completed a three-game sweep over Toldeo while softball finished its regular season dropping two of three games to Western Michigan this weekend.
Baseball
After Fridays game was pushed back, Ball State (25-21, 13-5 MAC) swept Mid-American Conference West opponent Toledo (14-33, 7-11 MAC) in three straight games.
Saturday's doubleheader included a wins by scores of 5-3 and 10-5, respectively.
In the first game, early run support by senior first baseman Caleb Stayton and pitcher Colin Brockhouse, who hit a solo home run in the second inning, aided Brockhouse en route to his third win of the season.

In the second game, the Cardinals bounced back from a 5-0 deficit in the first two innings, scoring five runs in both the fifth and eighth innings. Stayton once again led the offensive charge going 2-3 with two runs and three RBIs. Senior outfielder Matt Eppers and senior infielder Sean Kennedy also contributed with two RBIs themselves.

The last inning rallies continued for Ball State on Sunday after Eppers walk-off single to left center field gave the Cardinals the 7-6 victory to complete the sweep. After a slow start from redshirt sophomore Evan Marquardt, senior pitcher Evan Korson got the win throwing the final 5.2 innings, giving up three hits and one earned run.
Softball
Ball State (30-26, 14-10 MAC) wrapped up its regular season schedule at against Western Michigan (23-27, 11-13 MAC) over the weekend.
The Cardinals dropped two of three games against the Broncos, earning them the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Mid-American Conference tournament.
Friday's 2-1 win came after the Cardinals jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. That support came from senior outfielder Rachel Houck who hit a two-run home run to right field. Freshman pitcher Darcie Huber also pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, one earned run and two strikeouts in the victory.
Saturday is where Ball State saw early difficulties. After Ball State tied the game in the top of the third inning, Western Michigan pulled ahead scoring five runs in the bottom of the third. The Broncos eventually won 8-2 in the first game.
While Ball State's six hits doubled Western Michigan's three in the second game, the Broncos still pulled away with the victory. With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, freshman pitcher Alyssa Rothwell found herself in a bases-loaded jam pitching against Western Michigan second baseman Erin Barg, who Rothwell would eventually walk. That gave the Broncos the 2-1 lead and eventual victory.
