Ball State baseball players Colin Brockhouse and Matt Eppers were recognized by the Mid-American Conference for their performances last weekend.
Brockhouse, a junior right-handed pitcher, was named MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week after being credited with the win against then-No. 22 Maryland Friday. In 4.1 innings, he struck out eight batters without giving up a run.
"He showed his true colors and was a star," head coach Rich Maloney said this weekend. "He was one of the true stars of this tournament, barring none. That outing was so impressive, I don't know that anyone else had a more impressive outing this weekend. ... That was his best outing thus far as a Cardinal."
Brockhouse was originally slated to start Sunday's game agains Louisville, but he entered Friday's game against Maryland with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth. Brockhouse struck out Maryland batter Kevin Biondic to end the inning.
"I felt like it was very important that if we had a chance to win, whatever game we were in, to make sure we did that," Maloney said.
